Thought i would post up my new addition..  I have actually had it for about a year, but it went on the back burner for a while when i removed the hard top and found that almost the entire back of the cab where the top bolts on was completely rusted through.   Finally got some time to weld in a new piece, and install the soft top i had bought for it.  

 p.s   if anybody is looking to do a soft top i would recommend softopper.com,  $750 and you can completely fold it back or run it like a canopy with the sides and back rolled up.  So far seems to be a great product.

     That soft top does not look all that bad, did you go with the soft top just so you could roll up the sides ?

Thanks, and no, i like to take the top completely down too.   I went with the soft top because it is just way too much trouble to remove the hardtop if i want to head to the beach or take just cruise around with it off for the day.  With the soft top i can have it folded back in the down position, by myself, in a bout 5-10 mins.   Also, the soft top stays on the vehicle in the down postion so if i need to put it back up for rain or whatever the reason i dont have to come home to do it.

Thanks.    Actually, http://www.can-back.com/ sells one too.   However, considering that it is $1400 and the bows are not fold-able, meaning the frame stays erect while the canvas is down, the can back was really not an option for me.

you can also fold it forward to clear up the tailgate area if you need to haul something tall

Hey thanks,      well unless they just recently stopped making them and just haven't updated there website, but they have them listed for 69-91 k5s.   Coloradok5 also has a product review on them, and thats where i read up and realized that you cant fold the frame down.  That and  the huge price difference is what sold the softopper for me.

 think you have sold me on getting one.  I wasn't aware that it could be folded down AND the sides rolled up.  I really like that.  Does the rear window piece require drilling into the tailgate?

No you do not, there is not drilling into the vehicle itself.   there is an  bar that slides through a sheath sewn on the bottom of the back flap.   this clips on to rear of the soft top frame    It does come with 3 pieces of Velcro that you can stick along the top of the tailgate that adds additional protection from the flap coming lose, but you are not required to install it.


The only drilling required is 4 small holes into the aluminum soft top frame itself after you have it fitted to your vehicle.
