I always wondered why the vents sucked the second winter I owned it.

got the interior parts stripped off the cab.bed off,cab to be cut up tomorrow, the cab only had one cab mount holding it on.i knew it was rough but jeez.all 8 bed bolts came off like heck.frame is in great shape cant wait to apply oven cleaner and power wash it. due to budget reasons it seems as if its going to be just a tsc tractor paint black paint job on the frame.hopefully get the engine on the stand tomorrow evening. and finish ripping fuel tanks off and get digging into the blazer tank swap.

You sure are making some progress!!
Boy do I remember the days of doing what you're doing, here a few months ago.
Things seem to come apart real quick. You feel like you're getting lots done.
Keep up the good work and keep the pics coming.  I love seeing the progress toward bringing one of these great trucks back to full health.

I just have to ask, under the driver floorboard on the bottom of the cab (in pic's), is that part of a road sign someone welded/placed there ?

yeah it was a two way traffic truck sign haha.i noticed it when i looked at the truck to buy. did find out it has a newer drivers saddle tank and sender, which doesnt matter still going with the blazer tank.its a wonder the gas guage was as accurate as it was the cab was sitting on top of the tank and dang near the sender.also seen someones scab job of brake lines running to the rear, about 6 compression fitting in a 3 foot stretch.hopefully get the engine out today, im going to talk to the engine builder this afternoon and try and set something up, he is commuting from ohio to new jersey on 4 10s as a iron worker and hopefully he can squeeze my motor in on the weekend for teardown and build.i would feel alot better and money well spent going thru the entire motor.

Awsome truck! Can't wait to see it when it's done. I've always liked the look of our "square body" chevys, especialy with a lift kit.

i was hoping to get the torch from a buddy but he was using it on one of his projects so it was back to the sawzall. i wouldnt have demolished the cab so much but the scrap yards wont take it without a vin, so this way you can bypass that.im using the vin on the 85 cab i got. 12 cents a pound here in nw ohio.

I have done many a vehicle in my life this way.  It is way easier to have it in pieces than to hassle with the paperwork for the scrap yard.

I'm glad I read this part.
I'll be taking my cab to the scrap yard here in a month or so and had no idea they wouldn't take a cab in one piece unless you had paperwork to go with it.
I'll just cut it up into a half dozen pieces or so.
Thanks for discussing this.

Makes it easier to handle by yourself too.  ;D

My scrap guy usually comes to me. We trade scrap for parts when I need them if he has them. I needed parts off this old F150 and he brought the whole thing to me so I filled the back with as much scrap as I could dig up for him including my old cab.

I hate scrap. Whenever I go there I get depressed cause ill see old chevys, fords and even a few dodges people will scrap and the 3 yards around me won't let you buy back. I seen a old 50s ford stake bed on top of the pile and a 2wd 80 something clean crew cab chevy there. It's sad.
