My 84 has a goodwrench 350 in it and when I tried to time it the other day my mark on the balance never showed up under the light at the pointer. After some research I figured out the PO used the original 305 balancer on the 350 and its marked at the 12 O'clock position, but the pointer on the timing cover is at the 2 O'clock position.
I ordered a new 350 balancer from Summit (8 inch diameter), and today I started to wonder how thick the new balancer is compared to the 305.
I measured the 305 and it is 1 5/8 inch thick and the new balancer is 1 1/4 inch thick. Its suppose to be here tomorrow, but my fear is the pulleys won't line up unless the hub is the same on both balancers, then all MAY be well.
Anybody messed with this before? I suppose I could remark the 305 balancer..........
