Will a 700r4 hold up
« on: July 01, 2012, 05:48:15 pm »
I have a 87 3/4 ton with a 350, 4:10 gear and 35's.  Will a 700r4 hold up?
I don't get to crazy off road (most of the time).

With the updates available and a quality transmission cooler a 700R4 will hold up fine

Had mine in now for 3 years with no problems but I also don't wheel the truck.

Just posted to another thread that I won't use a 700r4 again because with tall tires I just don't need the overdrive.  Plus I don't do a lot of highway driving.

I'm building a new/old truck right now and going with

454
Turbo 400 Short Shaft
Divorced NP205
1-ton running gear

All the above are Time proven, bullet-proof and dependable.

My philosophy now days is KISS or Keep it Simple Simon.  The most complicated component that will be on my new/old truck will be an HEI Distributor.

If I can't pull over to any normal auto parts store and buy a part and install it myself it ain't going on my truck.
