« on: July 28, 2012, 10:09:13 am »
figure i might as well start this project a little ass backwards since thats how i am lol got an 86 fleet side that im gonna convert to a step side. started yesterday by pulling the step side bed and rear bumper off my 75 2wd pick up. hopefully gonna start stripping the bed down and pull out all of the wood and hold downs then pull the fenders this week since work is slow. heres a couple of before pics from earlier this week.

Looks good the way it is, but sounds like a good project.

got laid off recently so its at a stand still other than a little sanding. that and patching the inner wells back in the bed. really needs a motor more than anything at the moment since the cam seems like its gone flat. cant figure out how to upload pics of the bed and what not though  :-\

so since i last posted this i've re geared it from the stock 2.73's to 3.73's swapped on some flat black wagon wheels, put on a tube bumper on the front and re built the front end. now im curious,my gas mileage has gone waaaaaaay south. i am running a th400 and 208 right now, what would i need to swap in a 700r4?

Thanks for sharing the pics.
Did you build or buy that bumper?  It looks pretty darn good on there.  I'm thinking of putting something like this on my 87 V10 Suburban.

Thanks for the info.  Guess I need to do some junk yard searching!!

Considering this suburban will spend as much if not more time off road than on I'm looking for something more substantial than the stock bumper.  Besides I'm thinking it just needs a little more mass up front!
