rear leaf and front spring question..
« on: July 25, 2005, 04:22:00 pm »
yea..i've tried searching what the standard count of leaf springs come on a '86 c10.  i've been informed that the reasone i have so many shims on my a-arms is probably because the bozo before me cut the coil springs and removed a leaf spring(s) and the alignment people never can get it right, so that's why i wear out the inside of both my front tires.  also, if i have less that std. if i get a replacement set of leafs (or leaves), since i have a level stance right now, what combo do i have to get to get back to my normal stance (its not much of a drop i presume) and still not sag when i put a load in the back.  i.e. 5 leafs with shackle drop and air shocks?  or something of that nature.  thanks,  and i hope i can be somewhat beneficial to this board.   joey from baytown/anahuac.  <<<<yeaa!!!!! (they're both east of houston, TX)

Standard is the 52" 5 leaf setup.  Optional is the Heavy Duty 56" 7 leaf setup.  Regardless of what you have, the rear is going to go down once a load is put on it.  Typically the rear is about 2" higher and will sit level with a normal load on it.  I presume you want it to sit like stock, so you want stock replacement springs.

The front springs there were on only 2 offered.  SBC/I6 and BBC.  Only way to tell if they were cut is to look at the end of it (unless they cut the top which is a BAD idea)
