83 C10 - which lines can go??
« on: September 18, 2012, 11:09:24 pm »
I know that this is posted somewhere, I just haven't found it yet.  Here we go,  83 C10, 305, 350C.

Just broke the #$%& water neck, cheap cast piece.  Going to replace and wonder if I can start taking off the vac. tubing?  the thermal switch is in the neck and I have no plans on keeping it.  I want to eliminate everything that I can without causing the lock up 350 trans, to act up.  The HEI is another problem, way too many plugs in there.  Don't plan to mess with that yet.

Not real fond of the lock up feature.  Plans are to replace the 305 with my spare 350(415ft lbs of torque) and my 350TH trans.  I have a recurved normal hei but don't want to rplace al this stuff till it acts up.  Right now, I want to know what I can eliminate with the broken neck and switch. I know that the Dist. needs manifold vac.  Other than that, I can't really see what the rest do that is necessary.  Checking to see if the Vac. canister is even working tomorow.  Engine doesn't run better or worse plugged or unplugged.

this is not my first rodeo but it is with all this lockup, thermal switch, tip in switch stuff.  Back to old school basics down the road.  Holley, hot HEI, cam from heck, 4 vac. lines and life less cluttered.

Any ideas where to start???

I am gonna like this site!!

I am not sure I am following you.  It looks like you are planning to remove stuff, but then I get lost.
