 hey i have a 83 c10 silverado with 305. i want to remove my esc distributor and go with a standard hei distributor. can anyone explain to me how i would go bout performing the swap.
Gotta clean my back windshield cause I'm too busy kicking up dust

I recently bypassed the ESC on my 86 GMC. All I did was disconnect the ESC and installed a jumper as shown in the pics below. I use these types of connectors at work, so the jumper was easy to make. You could just as easilly cut and splice the wires together. I also replaced the carb with a non electric carburator. Other than that, a swap to a normal dizzy should be straight forward. just make sure the new distributor is installed in the same position as the one you pull out, and hook up the power wire in the same spot as the old one. Be careful not to plug the power into the tach port. its easy to do if you accidentally break the plug on the power plug.
