Volvo Carnage!
« on: April 14, 2013, 06:01:56 pm »
Well, this is my year round DD, '89 Volvo 760 turbo. Picked it up earlier this year, everything I read made it seem like a great DD... Galvanized everything (nothing escapes rust here), RWD, boost, lowish mileage, new winter tires, cheap to modify, easy to work on... etc. Oh, and it's MINT.

Don't know why it looks like it in the pic, but the hood is straight.

Felt zippy for a bit, but wasn't enough. Made myself a boost controller out of a compressor regulator, grabbed a real boost gauge from the garage, doubled up the boost to 14psi, and things began to feel good.

Launch at 2200rpm at 8psi

Cool, I can spin the winter tires!

Coming home from the city one night after helping a friend doing a 302 swap on his 240 wagon, my diff stared sounding like a jackhammer. Crap. Well, luckily pick n pull just tossed an identical car out in the lot. Scooped the diff from that, pulled out mine.

Tasty!

I hate when that happens!  :o
Some people are like Slinkies. Not really good for anything, but they still bring a smile to your face when you push them down a flight of stairs

In Sweden it's illegal to put a turbo on the 16 valve version, or a 16 valve thingy on a turbo, with these cars... My friend has it though, and it's awesome!  8)
