Chop Top Glass
« on: November 18, 2013, 01:01:17 am »
Hey everybody!

I did some searching and couldn't find anything so I thought I ask here.

I have a '73 C-10 Stepside with a 3" chopped top and it has plexiglass windows and front windshield. Over the past few months the windshield has starting showing signs of age and wear and should be replaced soon.

Could a glass shop replicate something similar to what's already installed? Could I get some older glass and attempt to cut it to fit?

I'd prefer to have real glass but money is tight so budget solutions will take priority.

The side glass is curved and tempered so you can cut it down and there is no "donor" to get a bigger glass from.
The front piece of glass can be cut down, and a custom glass shop should be able to do it.

If not, you need to get some Lexan Marguard for at least the front.  It generally take abuse better, but it isn't cheap.

Where are you located?

I'm in Denver. Another question, Cap; can I still use the One Piece Products window kit with the chop?

I saw that they provide the glass but didn't if it would work for my set up.

The one piece glass won't fit chop tops.  The custom glass shop that makes them kit can make you glass but you are talking even bigger cost for side glass...
