Hey everyone - As the latest new guy I guess it's good idea to introduce myself.

I recently found a "perfect-for-me" 85 Chevy C10 Longbed in black with almost no rust.  It is a 305 with 350C autos, 273 rear and all the original smog-related stuff you can imagine.  It has the ESC knock-sensor setup and the M4MED (dual capacity) Quadrajet, but it does not have the computer controlled carb setup, CCC.  It has low mileage (70K) and the original shaft-style radio.  Heck, the clock even works.  I've only had it a couple of months, but so far it has treated me quite well.  I did the basics when I bought it from the previous owner - changed all fluids including the differential, brake job, window felts (not the "triangle" opera windows - got questions there  :) ).

My plans for the truck are to keep it as original I can and do a form of working restoration on it.  It'll mainly have family-type duty including trips to the home center and stuff like that, but I want to keep improving it as I use it.  No, the 305's no barn-burner, but for parts hauling and so forth, it's fine for now.  Besides, I can always swap it up to a 350 later, right?  ;D

You can probably tell from my username that I am a huge fan of Oldsmobiles.  I've had a few over the years, but my big Olds project is a 71 442 (clone) Convertible.  It's a Chevy site, I know, but I am still keepin' the love in the General family.  If there are any other Olds guys out there, feel free to give me a shout.

A big welcome from NW Indiana.  Heck we got just the guy for you... HAULIN IT, he races his 455 Olds powered Chevy shortbed... Runs real good.  My second car was a 71 Olds Cutlass S that I totally restored back when it was only 11 years old.

All the twist that a good Olds 455 can make packed into a short bed???  I bet it runs good... 

Now you got me thinking, though - I have an extra Olds 350 block around here somewhere - maybe that 350 swap will be an SBO..  8)

Easily enough done.  BOP TH350 and you are done.  I would do it if I had a rocket 350 sitting, itching to go into something.  Even a 2bbl powered rocket 350 would run circles around a 305 4bbl

welcome from maryland/delaware. i got a dual bolt pattern th350 4x4 sitting in harrington, but i think shes hurting lol

I dunno...  The Chevy purists would have a fit, I guess. I have a 68 Olds block that's been fluxed and checked, but haven't had the funds and time to rebuild it.  No cracks or whatever, but needs to be punched out 20 or 30 over and align honed, etc.  My 71 rocket 350 is a solid performer - still, I think there's a lot of tuning I could do along with better heads to make it much, much better.

Thanks...  Yeah, those uni-case 350's are great.  You can drop 'em into basically anything.  Got a buddy running one in a Jeep with an NP transfer case and all.  Harrington's a drive for me...  I'm up near Middletown.

yeah its a little drive used to work in Smyrna now work down in Georgetown, but got family up there and we have another member thats located near smyrna i think

Thank you...  Dealing with Cali emissions on an older truck must be a lot of fun - at least according to a friend of mine with a 69 Oldsmobile out there.

Hey Lorne.  From one Olds fan to another - Wow!  ;D

I've never seen anything like the truck you have there!!!  That's a serious setup - what year is the motor?  I am assuming late 60's because they were the stronger original blocks, right...  No windowed mains like in the mid to late 70's?  Are you running a TH400 behind it or something more exotic?  And, if I am not mistaken, you are running a Quadrajet on there, too!

I really like the Oldsmobile rocket on the front. :)  Do you have the "Chevrolet" script on the back replaced with Oldsmobile as well?

Nah, I am not an active member on ROP, but I do a lot of reading over there.  Also, I do hang out on ClassicOldsmobile.com sometimes.  I am in the middle of building a mild Olds 350 for my Cutlass Convertible project - but now you have me wondering if my C10 could use some Rocket Power!
