Wanna drop, need advice
« on: August 20, 2006, 04:03:00 pm »
I want to drop my 86 silverado
I'm thinking maybe 3/5
Not sure how I want to do it.
Spindles or control arms?
DJM has a kit that has the lower control arms, and was wondering if that is better than the spindles?
let me know.

I wouldn't do lca's since they already hang down pretty low. There is a 3/5 spindle and flip kit from sport truck direct, that is 300 or so I think.

As for the flip kit, I don't want to do any cutting on the truck. Does this require any?
Try and leave the frame as stock as I can, in case I want to raise it later.
Someone mentioned that usually on these trucks, you will need to grind or cut part of the stock lower control arm so it won't rub.
Any info would be appreciated.
thx

I think spindles for the front would be your best bet for a 3" drop. What size wheels do you have or going to use?

I'm not sure about the flip kit you'll be gettin but the only things I needed to cut off were the rear bump stops. FYI, I didn't want to cut the frame on mine either. I hauled 800 lbs of new furniture without any axle bangin frame problems.

300 bones ain't a bad deal for a 3/5 kit. Does it come with rear shocks?

I checked out their add and now its 3" springs and a flip for 209. No it doesn't come with shocks, but they usualy run 30-40 each.
