This is probably a stupid question, but here it goes:
What I have: a NOS blue front carpet originally made for an 87-88 Suburban, complete with tags and everything. It is cut out for the center console brackets, but is a 2wd version at least.
My Project Truck: a 1977 c10.
Obviously the floor steps up near the seat on the c10 to clear the gas tanks and such, which would be different than the suburban. Based on the seat/console layout/configuration in the Burbs, I *think* that the console bracket holes would be essentially covered up by the bench seat (unless I went with a highback factory bucket/console conversion of course and then it wouldn't matter)
Having said that, has anyone here ever tried modifying a burb front carpet to fit in a pickup?
The positives of doing it (in my eyes) is I get the GM quality, lack of fading, and wear durability these trucks had new. And, having had an 87 here in the family since new, I know that between garaging and keeping it clean/vacuumed, this carpet should last me at least the next 20 years or more. This is probably much better than any performance I would get from anything made in the aftermarket - all those seem to face and discolor after a few years, not to mention showing weat more quickly...
I'm trying to figure out what to piece together my interior out of, and how much I need to buy vs re-use from my stash.
