I have an 84 chevy k10 shortbox that has a full spring lift front and rear that I'm guessing is around 8 inches of lift.  I would like to lower it a couple inches so that it will fit in my 7' garage door opening and a little better ride quality would be nice.  I am wondering if anyone has some suggestions on what the best set up would be for roughly a 6 inch lift or so would be and for a good all around truck that can handle towing a car trailer or load but still ride decent for an 84 chevy that's lifted.  I Like the lift and would like to keep my 35" tires but being able to fit in my garage and a better ride would sure be nice.

Super lift or skyjacker are some of the softest lifts.  Tuff country and ruff country are a lot harder riding lifts.  Rancho makes a medium lift as far as ride comfort.

4" should be plenty for 35's

We have 33's with no lift and no rubbing at all

A 2" or 2 1/2 should clear 35's

He likes the lift and was asking about 6" lifts.  He also did not mention if he ever planned on going off road with it, a 4" lift with 35"x12.5"x15 tires on a wide rim will rub if you articulate it too much, like going through ditches and such, or turning hard at off angles.
It makes a big difference on rubbing on how wide the rim and tire are.  33" 35" tires can come in multiple widths, getting the right width or rim/tire and lift is important.

Good point bake74... I use the truck more as a daily driver and it spends most its time on road however I would like to be able to take it off road and play once in a while...nothing too serious but you gotta have a little fun with a lifted truck.  The wheels are 18x10s and the tires are toyo mt's 35x12.50x18.

With those size tires and rims, I would not go anything under a 6" lift.

I had a 6" in mind.  Would anyone have an Idea about how tall that would put the cab so I know if I will be able to get in a standard 7' garage door with the 35's?  I don't know what my current lift is in the truck now however I did have another 84 shortbox with a 6" super lift in it and this trucks sits a good 2-3" taller than that one did...I measured the difference between the two at one time but I can't remember what it was exactly now.  My truck measures just under 7' 2" at the top of the cab with it's current lift and tire combo.  Like I said I like the lift but a few inches shorter to fit in the garage and a better ride would be nice.  No matter what I end up with for a lift I would like to keep it clearing the 35x12.50 tires to keep my gearing right.  The truck has overdrive so that helps but it has 4:56 gears and lockers front and rear.
