Aftermarket Air Cleaner

I'm looking to increase airflow during summer months when I don't need the thermostatic.  I'm trying to find an open filter setup for my 85 K-35 (454, original Rochester), but cannot find one that fits the stock-size 12" dia by 5 1/2" tall filter.  All I can find are 9", 11" and 14".

Where can I find one?...I'm almost ready to fab my own with an old chevy pickup or van hubcap (I've found some 12" ones).

Any ideas? Thanks

Have you thought about going to the local parts store and grabbing one of these? They are pretty cheap and perform pretty decently. They are ultra small and really cool looking, too.

as vile said just flip the air cleaner cover upside down- it will work good- i did it on my 75 till i got my edelbrock

Yep, do the cheap old hot rod trick of flipping the lid. You'll get that great 4 bbl  "waaaahhhhhh" sound too :rollin    

I wouldn't use one of those 'bug eye' air cleaners. They like to catch on fire should you have a carb backfire.

I wanted to flip mine but there are not enough threads to srcew it back on when it is flipped.

just get a piece of threaded rod at the hardware store and cut it to length. I think they're 1/4-20 threads...
