Paint/dye help

I have a set of charcoal door panels for my 1981 Scottsdale that I need to change to a light beige. I have read many ways to do this but which way is the best? Also how many cans of color will it take for 2 door panels and 2 armrest pads?

SEM is your best option in my opinion if you want to use a spray can.  Duplicolor works also.
If you want to use a spray gun, go to your local Automotive paint supply store (that the dealership uses) and get some from them.

If your not picky on the shade then SEM works well.If you are,then go to your local paint store and they can mix any shade you like.If you don't have a spray gun,most auto parts or paint stores have an aerosol spray canister with a jar on the bottom that works pretty good.But beware the dye at the paint store may run 150 bucks a quart or more

So I need to clean, apply adhesion promoter, primer and then the color?

I asked the guys at the paint store about prep for the dye,specifically promoter.
They told me to just clean really well with soap and water and then wipe down
with a grease remover or alcohol and then tack it off.I used alcohol and all
went pretty well.Laid down 3 coats with the first one just a mist coat.

You don't have to use the adhesion promoter, I have used SEM both with and without promoter,  got about the same result. I like it without because it let's the dye get directly onto the material and stick better.
