Looking for New Fuel Filler and Vent Hoses
« on: September 08, 2015, 02:30:26 pm »
1975 K10 Short Bed (16 gallon tanks).

The right hand tank on mine are cracked and hard as a rock.
Is there a fuel safe, less expensive option to replace the molded rubber filler and vent tubes other than those sold by on-line restoration parts places?

Have you researched Filler Neck Supply Company?

Thanks for the replay and link.
I need to replace the two rubber hoses / tubes between the metal filler neck and the tank.
Best price I have found for the pair is $40 plus shipping.
I could use a radiator hose for the filler and heater hose for the vent but I don't think those would be a good choice for fuel.

Agreed.  Alcohol enriched fuels will cause rapid drying and breakdown of any rubber not manufactured to contain it.

Thanks for the conformation.
The fuel here in Colorado contains 10% ethanol.
I have replaced all of the other rubber sections of fuel line because they were rotted. I assume a combination of age and ethanol.
A previous owner must have replaced the LH filler and vent hoses as they are the only ones that look and feel new.

I tried a radiator hose once, and it worked for a while but eventually cracked and started leaking as I was filling up.  This was on NON-ethanol fuel even.  So I sprung for the $40 and ordered both the filler neck hose and the vent hose, and all has been well ever since.

Thanks for the reply.
I ordered the fill and vent hoses today.
After all of the time I have spent repairing my dual tank fuel system I decided to just buy the final two correct parts and be done with it.
