So what did you find? Anything?
I bought both trucks, M1008 & M1009.

I gotta do something.  I'm running out of space, and there might be another auction before winter.

This is the 1986 M1008.  I towed it home from the auction the day I bought it.
The writing on the windshield reads " no batteries, no 4x4". Unfortunately it was also missing the radiator.  There was 6 old batteries in the bed that I will turn in for a couple $$.
I stopped on the way home and bought some heated hose to tie the oil lines together.  I used fuel line to connect the 2 tranny lines together.
I put 2 batteries in it. I cycled the glow plugs and hit the key.  It fired up on the first try.  I just let it run for a few seconds so that  it wouldnt overheat without a radiator.

  This is the M1009.
I have to pick this one up later in the week.
This one is also missing the batteries and the radiator. Unfortunately this one is missing both alternators (24 volt system) and the pigtails have been cut off).  Luckily  I have those spare parts off another M1009.
I'll post better pics once I get it loaded on the trailer.

Yes it is. Its crazy what people are willing to pay for Dana 60's, especially with 4.56 gears.
I have a Dana 60 from an M1028 parts truck that has the  limited slip in it. I've turned down big money for it. I'm keeping it as a spare for my DD M1028.
I'm going to get the M1009 tomorrow or Friday. I'll post pics.

Man, some people have all the luck, searched for a while for a M1008, before giving in and just getting a K10 truck. How do you find the auctions? I tried the gov't surplus sites, but they tend to sell in the 3,000 range

Picked up the M1009 today.
I found paperwork in the glovebox for the GM delayed warranty program (hopefully you can read it in the picture).  My guess is that its for fleet vehicles that are not put  into immediate use.
Well, I got the blank form.
My plan is to ship the Blazer & paperwork to the Chevy dealer that LTZ C20 works at.  Sounds like a fool proof plan.

Got it home & started to work on it.
I'm going to tie the oil lines together & do the same with the tranny lines just to see if it starts (missing the radiator).
These trucks have some oddball stuff.  This is the oil sample valve in the oil line.  The     Military uses it to take an oil sample off a running truck to annalise it.
I guess if they find to many oil shavings they auction the trucks off to guys like me.
I try not to think about it.
