Suburban rear bumper on Silverado???
« on: February 03, 2005, 10:36:00 am »
I have a 1987 Silverado with a long bed.  All my friends pick on my truck.  But the more I look at it, it looks good.  I shaved the hood ornament, and the truck has the nice front bumper (no bullhorns!!).  The truck pretty much sits level as it is, but I am going to drop it 2" soon.  My question is about the rear bumper from a Suburban same body style as mine.  It is a nice, small chrome unit with a recess in the middle for a license plate.  If I get all the brackets and mounting hardware from a donor Suburban, will it fit on my truck?  Anybody got pics from an install like this one?  Will it look better than the old step-bumper that came stock on mine?

You don't need the brackets from the Burb, you need the ones from a truck.  If yours currently has a step bumper, those brackets won't work.  The bumper will work on any vehicle though as long as you have the right brackets.

This is what a optional factory bumper would look like:

email me your email address if you need me to send the pic.  The inbox deleted your message when I tried to reply.

You can get the brackets either from a salvage yard off a pickup that has the bumper, or you could order them from me.  The are on back order right now so if you ordered them it would take about 2 weeks to get them to you.  They aren’t in the online catalog right now because of the Back Order, but I can add them back if you want to purchase them.  The PN is 4145-807-812S cost is $154.95 + shipping

the outer brackets are same as sub/blazer and are easy to find used ;the inners are specific to the truck ;you will also require the 2 splash guards
