1980 K20 Fuel problem

I'm having a fuelling problem as well

Yesterday I was trying to take my K20 home to the farm from the city (1.5 hr drive north). Got about 20 minutes out of town and it died on me on the side of the highway. Fuel tank was right full, checked my clear plastic fuel filter and it was empty. Poured gas in the carb and it would start that way but of course wouldn't stay running. The system would pressure up but no gas would get to the filter let alone carb. I'm guessing my fuel pump should be ok, and there may be a blockage? The truck hasn't been on a long trip for who knows how many years. Where would I start looking for a blockage?

What do you mean when you say the system would pressure up?  Has it been converted to an electric fuel pump?  Also are you sure your tank was full, old gauges go bad.

From what you're describing, if it's stock I would say the fuel pump did go bad

Sorry everyone, didn't realize admin made my reply into a separate topic - thanks!

I'm hoping it is something simple as switching out to a new pump; it has all original parts. I will be taking an electric fuel pump out there tomorrow (better than a mechanical one, right?), as well as some tools and such to make sure I don't have a blockage in my fuel lines.

This truck only has one tank, that should narrow down the problem solving I hope. I filled my tank right full with a jerry can just in case. I need to replace that old fuel gauge, it is way out to lunch (priority #2 on the list).
