Sounds like flash rust inside the cylinders, but how did you test the starter? Parts store testers dont put a load on the starter drive gear. Turn the motor over by hand and see if it stops that way too. Have you pulled the plugs yet?

Did you remove the starter and test it, or was it still mounted? If removed, again, you can't load the drive gear, so the starter may spin fine, but won't turn over an engine. If it was still mounted and cranked the engine over just fine, then you're up against a wiring problem.

Ok one time I had a vehicle do that and what happened was the timing chain broke....if you pulled all the plugs and tried to crank it and it did the same thing and it is an automatic and you had the starter checked out.....have you tried to turn the motor over by the harmonic balancer?   try to turn the motor in each direction...and if the motor stops while turning it by hand try to listen to see if you can hear a cluck or some noise and where abouts you hear it at.

Ok I put some bolts in the harmonic balancer and was tighting them up so I could turn the motor over and when I got the one bolt just tight. The motor turned and it kept turning then stopped so I took my bracker bar and started turning it more. It felt like it was a little stuck!!! Oh and I did not take out the plugs yet...

I also swaped starter housings so I will be putting it on!!!

ok take the plugs out...it could possibly be something like fuel or water in a cylinder causing it to lock up....you would be surprised.

keep us informed on what you do....take the spark plugs out and then try to crank it...look for anything spewing out of any of the cylinders if it is able to keep cranking over.
