Longbox stepside- Replacing Step

So I've got an 86 k20, and its a pile... I mean project. I want to restore it and make it a daily driver. However mechanically it needs work. As a side project, I want to fix the bed (currently off the truck). Now being a longbox stepside, the replacement parts are going to be impossible to scavenge. My question comes in when I need to find a driver side step. Anyone know of a place that sells them? Or am I going to need a body shop custom fab one? Thanks for any info.

Mar-K makes longbed stepside panels and wood.  The steps may be a challenge but not impossible.

There was nothing on this store. There is plenty of support for the shortboxes, but almost nothing for longbox. How do I contact Mar-K? Is it a website or a person on the forum?

Mar-k is a website.
People will love or hate the 8' step sides.
I wasn't a huge fan until I bought my 81 8' step side.
Since then I have been given 2 8' step side beds from guys that are converting over to fleet side beds.
The 8' step sides are out there. Its probably easier to find a complete bed than it is to find just the steps.
  Check craigslist and EBay daily.
  If I can find them in Massachusett, you can find them anywhere.
  How bad are your original ones? Any pics?

If the step is longer on the 8ft, could you buy 2 for the short box and make one that fits? My old pickup is a long box step side.

I'm not able to get pics on here sadly. I was debating selling it, I even had a buyer lined up. However I saw your truck on google images and that was the deciding factor for me! (Thanks Fitz) I could just buy two small steps and fab one myself, However I wouldnt trust my welds enough to lean on, let alone put it out for everyone to see on the body. My step isn't incredibly far gone, Just some good sheet metal or a body shop to patch. The tailgate is just surface rust, so nothing bad other than the wood bed and the driver step.

I'm no bodyman, so take my advice for what its worth (maybe Blazing or Hailin_it will chime in).
  To weld the 2 steps together (in not even sure they would be long enough) would take some  skill.  You wouldn't want someone to step on it and break it in half (and maybe fall & get hurt).
  To simply weld on a few patches to replace some rust spots that you cut out, that could be a good job for a hobbyist like myself (hard to tell on yours without seeing a picture).
  This is 1 of those times when you have to be realistic about how good you need it to be.         Obviously we all want are trucks to look the best that they can, but will this be a show truck or daily driver?.

Ideally, daily for now, and possibly a show truck a couple years from now. I'm running a wooden flatbed right now, so show truck doesn't apply at the moment lol. As far as my welding skills go, I took a class like two years ago as a sophomore. I'm by no means a professional, probably not even decent. The best I could do is prep everything and take it to a body shop.

i wouldnt do a butt weld, i would have a brace on the bottom side of it.
