Prices for donor trucks?
« on: January 22, 2016, 07:52:09 pm »
I found a donor truck that I'd like to buy that has a good bed, and mostly good tailgate.  I might need some of the metal around the windshield as well to cover some rust issues I have.  What are people paying for their donor trucks?  This one has a 350 that has a blown head gasket and a turbo 350 I'm assuming. .  Are people getting good money for other parts or just scrapping what they don't need?

All of the parts are worth $$ if you find the person that needs them.
I've sold clean rust free beds for $1,000 (they are rare ihere n Mass).
Is that 350 a 4 bolt? If it is, someone will pay $200ish for the rebuildable block.

Not much more than scrap value
Unless it has some parts you need and can't find

We paid $900 and got a lift kit axles and transfer case and a grill and fender
The rest was dented or rusty and brought $275 at the crusher

The one I'm looking at is around that price but has original 74 bed and tailgate in decent shape.

If all it has wrong is a blown head gasket and that is verifiable, it has value. if you can store the good parts it might be worth it to salvage as much as possible. Remember, they do not build these trucks any longer anything that can be rebuilt could have potential value, starter (if original), alternator, fan, etc. As the years go by there will be fewer and fewer good original parts to be found. Aftermarket stuff is generally trash in comparison.

For these parts that would be a good price for a truck with good usable parts on it.
