Preserving Old Paint Patina - pics!
« on: February 11, 2016, 01:45:50 pm »
After much research on "preserving patina" or old paint, I found a number of techniques.  Like clear coating, waxing and even rubbing with linseed oil or a mix.  The one I found that intrigued me the most (and was pretty cheap) was using Gibbs Oil

Wow! That turned out looking pretty good! Although that seems a method that's best suited to primered trucks or for trucks with a flat or matte paint job. My truck has neither. It still has a mostly factory paint job with smooth and shiny paint. I think with a clear coat on the upper part of my two-tone paint job. Wax would be a better solution to my application. But thanks for sharing. Just goes to show what a little work can accomplish.

If my paint were as nice as yours, I would have buffed mine out too!

For my truck I was thinking more Mad Max    :D
