Vortec headd
« on: April 26, 2016, 07:08:42 pm »
Alright, iv got a set of 062s I want to put on my 77 350. My understanding is my current headers will work, I'll swap my 650 eddy over, and I know I need a vortec specific intake.

My question are, when searching for head and gasket parts, I assume I'm searching for a 99 350 and NOT a 77 350. Also iv read people have the push in rocker studs removed and threaded ones installed. Is it easy to find the right ones?

Yeah use the gaskets for the 99 350. The threaded rocker studs hopefully insure the don't come out of the head.

Is that a Gen 2 or Gen 3? The 99?

Dont think the generation matters. I just use gaskets for a 98 chevy pickup with A 350.

The press in studs should be fine unless you are using a really
high lift cam.Did the heads come with rocker arms?
If not make sure and get the right ones. The Vortecs are self
aligning.Otherwise heads will have to be machined for
studs and guide plates. As for the springs.the stock ones
are good for I think a .420 lift of maybe it was .460.
Easy to find out with a little research.Others may chime in
in case I missed something or got something wrong. These heads
make a lot of difference on these engines power output.
