Header Gasket Recommendations? - 350 Small Block - 1987 Silverado

Yep... the header gaskets are leaking so it's time to install a new set.  My local NAPA has a number of options including some COPPER header gaskets.  I've never used copper header gaskets so before experimenting I thought I would see what you guys think?

Here's some pictures of what I have now.  Looks like some form of Mr Gasket brand?

if those are the alum ones you can reuse them. ive had the same problem on my 350 with the after install. the bolts would back out then i would just retighten them and it will be good. ive even reused them before, love the alum ones

Agree. I have the aluminum ones and they're the best I've ever used

I really like the Remflex ones!  I have them on all of my vehicles and do not have any problems.  They are thicker than stock so you may need longer header bolts (AKA: LS header bolts).

I also use the Nordlock header bolts and they never loosen themselves up!  They are not inexpensive though.

You just have to tighten the bolts every week or so

That's why I don't run headers anymore

We have copper gaskets on Bedazzled, but they've only been on a month. No problems so far though. I think the thickness of the flange is more important than the gasket material. The flange on Brooke's headers are almost twice as thick as the ones in the pictures. We put Bank's headers with 5/8" thick flanges on our Excursion over a year ago and they've never leaked. I don't remember what gasket I used. I think the thicker flange spreads the clamping force across the whole exhaust port better. I wanted to try the Remflex gaskets, but couldn't remember the name, and ended up with copper. If the copper ones start leaking, I'll have Brooke try the Remflex.

The best gaskets I've used on headers are the stock manifold gaskets. They seal up nicely and last a long time. If you use the singlet manifold gaskets it's even better, if one starts to leak then you just lose the bolts slide it out and slide the new back in. Cheap and very effective.
