Hi, guys. New to the group.
The issue I'm having is this...
On my 1986 chevy K10 Suburban, when I turn on high beams, all the lights go out. I replaced the headlight switch, but it didn't fix the problem. I ran a hot wire to the low beam side of the lights from a switch to get the lights to work. Funny thing is, the low beams would work with the light switch until you turned the high beams on, then you would have to use the bypass switch to get the lights to work again.
I have since replaced the turn signal switch, the dimmer switch, and the steering column, but the issue is still there. After replacing the turn signal switch, the lights and turn signals worked until i hit the high beams. I had the truck running while i was testing the lights, but the high beams killed everything. Now the truck won't start at all.
All the fusible links ohm out good, I have power to the starter, alternator, juntion terminal, and at the harness going into the cab.
I also jumped the wiring for high/low beam... both those circuts work good.
I tested for voltage at the fuse box, but on the fuses for turn/back up, ignition, and guage/idle, I have 0.08 volts.
I have looked at the scematic on this site, but I can't seem to find what wire powers these circuts.
Short of hot wiring everything to get it going, what can I do?
ANY IDEAS? I'm at a dead end.
