Batt or Alt?

Every morning i have to jump battery. Nothing but clicks. However, it does start at end of day leaving work. Volt meter reads fine.

Interior lights come on in morning.

Autozone will load test your battery for free but it does sound like a weak battery

Are AC Delco batteries good? As good as sears diehard gold?

never had the ac delco. i get a discount at napa now so i only use the batteries they sell. BUT when i worked at autozone i used to get the duralast, wouldnt pay for an optima. but when i was working there (over 10 years ago) some guy brought in a dead red top. he traded it in as a core, we had other "core" batteries in the back people would just turn in. so i swapped them out and put the red top on trickle charge for a day. this red top is still in my 94 c1500. if you can find another battery that has lasted over 10 years tell me lol. i would of had them in my cummins but i cant afford one let alone two batteries that cost that much and the CCA isnt real high

In all honesty, in my 94 jeep cherokee, in 2003 i put in a sears diehard gold. I sold the jeep a couple years ago, (about 12 yrs) same battery. That battery never saw jumper cables, started in -15 winters, even started after leaving dome light on all night.

So i bought another one today for the c-10. I just had to.

AC Delco batteries are very good. I have an 800 CCA one for the Duramax diesels in my C20. Loads of power, has been great.

I did a search for ac delco batts, couldnt find. But i was certain about the diehard gold. ...and you know me, its all about factory! Dont tell anyone i crossed the ac delco line. Lol

Well next time just walk into a dealer, it's the easiest thing. I just went to the parts counter and said "I want one of those 800 amp batteries for the d-max's that is a side post." They went over to the battery rack and brought me back one. Problem solved. I'm getting a top post next time tho, side post is over rated.

Dang!! The #1 place and i didnt even think if it. We're so used to dealers NOT having parts for our trucks, but we forget about these "general" GM parts that the dealers have. Will keep in mind for all future common items.

Oh, and i was wondering about side vs. top mount. I have side, but prefer top, but didnt want to go changing out the cables and all. So i stuck with the side.

Why top mount??

My opinion is #1 easier to clean and see if it has corrosion, #2 side post tend to strip if you use it from one truck to another, #3 jumper cables and battery chargers are easier to hook up and #4 better connection

All of these. Changing battery cables or terminals is easy. If you opt for terminals, use good quality crimp type terminals.

Speaking from the experiences i had trying to diagnose a bad ground issue in a 90's s10 with one of those stupid dual post batteries, they cause more problems than they are worth, never mind you double the chances of a battery short circuit
