oil pressure sending unit
« on: October 04, 2016, 03:45:05 pm »
My truck is a 1980 2wd that came with a 305 and idiot lights in the dash.  I put a factory gauge dash in it and wired it up and it all works fine except for the oil pressure gauge.  Sometimes it doesn't work at all, sometimes it's pegged.

For a sender, I got a Standard PS154 from Summit.  I believe that's the correct number for a 1980 with gauges.  My hunch is that there are two issues.  First, there is a loose connection.  Second, I have the wrong sender.  Is there more than one sending unit or does my trouble lie elsewhere?

Try a PS140 and check your connections

I picked up a PS140 on the way home.  Thanks.

Success!

I'm suspecting that the loose connection is the  plug on the sender wire.  There were some other connections under the hood that were oxidized pretty badly.

Thank you Mr. Z.
