Doors don't require shimming (unless they are REALLY bad)  The adjustment is in the hinges...

The best way is with the fenders off that way you can losen and tighten the door and the hinges till everything lines up. If you are doing it with the fenders on it will take a long time as evrytime you adust one or the other it will throw one or the other out. I leave the hinges a bit loose and kinda in the midle of their up and down back and forth adjustment, shut the door line up the back body lines / adjust the stricker. Then I get the door lined up in and out, up and down in the front on the hinges. If I run out of adjustment up and down then I move the hinges to compensate. hope this helps.

Some people are like Slinkies. Not really good for anything, but they still bring a smile to your face when you push them down a flight of stairs

How the heck do you adjust the doors with the fenders on??
I can't get to the hinge bolts because of the fender.
Can you adjust the door with only the bolts exposed inside the door? Mine sticks out 1/2 inch.Tried adjusting the striker but not enough.Fits perfect without weatherstripping.
Maybe that's why it was missing when I bought the truck>:

Where is it out of alignment? up/down, left/right, in/out, front/back.  If it is out at the back and the gasket it keeping it from latching properly I would think that the striker needs adjustment.
