I have 1979 gmc half ton with a 1980 front clip My question is will a grill from a 1973 chevy fit in my truck?

No, the grill from a 73 or 74 is different from the rest of the 70's rounded line trucks.  They are much thicker and set up for a different core support.  The rest of the 70's grills interchange though (75-80).
