Update. I got that truck on the road last summer and logged about 1,500 miles in the San Bernardinos and Sierra Nevada. After last fall, life got in the way. So it hibernated in SoCal until a brief check early this year. Then, after more life, it finally started getting attention last week. New issues revealed last summer were (1) LP side randomly losing prime after setting overnight or several days, (2) engine temp got too high once, and (3) the powerband only seemed right at high RPM.

(1) Now I started seeing fuel drips from both the bleed and drain screws of the WIX filter/separator box. I suspect that's leaking air as well, causing the LP side to lose prime. I ordered a spin-on filter housing. I can report back if that fixes the prime/starting problem. Unfortunately, with this mod I'm giving up the fuel heat and WIF sensor features of the stock WIX box. Will I miss them?

(2) and (3) I now think are related. This 6.2 has some brand unknown aftermarket turbo kit. While the inlet side looks fine with 2x2" to 3" plumbing into the turbo, they botched the outlet side. A 3" downpipe was reduced to 2" then split to reuse the stock dual exhaust system. What a stupid restriction. I cut it open before that restriction. That woke it up! Just before that I installed a boost gauge, which increased from 2 to 5 psi max. I know that's still low but it's a huge improvement. I also noticed considerable oil blowby in the intake. The dipstick was down over a quart in 1,500 miles. That makes me think the turbo may be tire and possibly not capable of more boost at this point. No wastegate BTW.

After the filter mod I have a shop to convert the exhaust from 2" duals to a straight 3" pipe. If too noisy, a muffler can be inserted. I'm curious who else runs open exhaust.
