Axle Swap Question
« on: September 30, 2006, 11:16:00 am »
1986 Chev K10 Long Bed

I'm in the beginning stages of rebuilding this truck, many more questions to come.  I'm going to swap in a 14 bolt full floater rear and a dana 60 front.  Any info from anyone who has done this would be appreciated.  From what I remember the dana 60 should only require the proper spring pads and U-bolts.  However I believe 14 bolts out of 1-tons have a different spring pad spacing.  I'd rather not have to Curt off and moved the pads, can I use different mounting bracket to mount the springs to the frame?  Again any help would be appreciated.

What is the 14Bolt out off?

If it is from a 1T or 3/4T pickup it will bolt in.  If it is from a dualies or a van, these are the ones that have different overall widths from regular pickups and Blazers, and the spring perches are in different locations.

You want one with the leaf-spring centering-pin holes 42-3/4 inches apart.
