power mirrors?
« on: April 03, 2006, 11:27:00 pm »
Has anyone installed power mirrors on their truck? I am thinking about installing some power mirrors from a 91 gmc suburban and wanted to know how they look and weather it is worth the work to put them on. I have only seen a few suburbans with the power mirrors and thought it would be different to put them on my truck. Any pictures of them installed would be great.

Are they basically the same mirror as a 95-98 chevy truck just a different base? or are they totally different. I have only see pictures and i would like to know if they look good or should i just keep my old chrome mirrors.

put  a pair from an 91 burban on my 84, an easy swap if your able to get the harness, which you have to seperate and cut a few wires to seperate it from the pw harness. trickiest part was getting wires through door jamb and kickpanel. not sure if the heads are exact same as 95 up part number wise but they look identical to me. i like them cuz there different and dont like them cuz they stick out a lil to far for my liking ( i dont pull a trailer or anything). trucks getting painted in may and got to decide whether or not to keep these mirrors or lose side mirrors altogether.

Yeah, Jay, I may do that, and thanks for the compliment.  I didn't think it fit the time fram of 73-87, but after just pulling the site up, i see that up to 91 is accepted. The subs kept the same body style thru 91 --even after the pickem up trucks changed, some military contract w/ GMC's subs (I learned that on this site!).

I bought that baby last year from Arizona....rust free--everything works.  the 350 runs strong too.  Can't wait to take it to the outer banks of North Carolina and play out on the beach.

Thanks again

Andy

Andy, it doesn't matter that it is a '91 it can still be included.  The range cut off is there to differentiate from the 88-98 pickups.  Basically it is understood as 73-87(-91).
