Not to deflate your baloon but, that reminds me of most of my parts trucks when I get them. You might want to consider something better to start with. Or a real clean 2 wheel drive for a body swap / mix and match.

Some people are like Slinkies. Not really good for anything, but they still bring a smile to your face when you push them down a flight of stairs

I didn't know the trashbag tint was an option that year:lol
Seriously, find a parts truck would be your best best..but you can do it..mine was almost that bad when I started on it,a little less rust though and a lot thinner wallet now..

Boy, oh boy.  I thought Larry the Cable Guy's was bad.  All you need is a window AC unit sticking out the back window.

And i would take that over a new silverado anyday.

After s/he gets done, s/he will still have saved probably $20-30K  vs. a new truck.

am i the only one that doesn't think it's in that bad of shape? give me about a month with it and it could look just as good as most older trucks on the road. yea there may be some other stuff wrong that isn't noticeable by the pic, but judging from the pic it's not in that bad of shape

Put some huge fender flares and the largest wheels and tires under it and it would be a good off roader.

You are not doing too badly so far.  I have driven worse.  Junk the bed, like you are doing, then go to

www.rustfreeparts.com

They have everything that you need.

Holy cow... good luck with that. It looks like it's been sitting at the bottom of a lake for 10 years.
