my '80
« on: October 01, 2006, 10:30:00 pm »
here are a few pics of my project that i have in process. in these i have just removed the interior. the floorpans are nice and solid as is the whole thing.
i have a TPI system on the way. then it is going to get a new 700r4 put in, then off to the body shop for a repaint, then a new interior and tires. i have a dakota digital dash to put in and i have a dashes direct dash i will attempt to make look good. i just bought a stereo system for it, a Kenwood Cd player w/ USB for playing off of flashdrives, kenwood amp for two JL 12" subs and an ALpine amp for two Infinity 6-1/2's and two pioneer 6x9's. this truck should be nice when i finish. i hope to have it done by Thanksgiving.

All the 1980 trucks I have ever seen had the single square headlights, as far as I know, 79 back to 73 had the single rounds headlights.

I heard that chevy made a early 80 model that had round headlights and the later 80 had the square headlights i just so happened to have a 80 with the round headlights.I hope someone here can answer which is rarer the round headlight version or the square version?

thanks

The rectangular headlamps came only on the Silverado trim level in 1980.  All other trim levels had round headlamps.  If you see a Custom Deluxe, Scotssdale, or Cheyenne with rectangular headlamps, they were retro-fitted by the owner.  (I have an original 1980 showroom brochure that details this).

Rectangle headlamps were first offered at the end of the '79 run on Silverado's only.  The '80 models followed the same principle.  Remember we are talking GM here and I have heard from owners of '80's with non-Silverado Trim with squares on it and listed in the option sheet.  These would be out of the norm and could possibly considered "rare".

My 80 C-10 had the round headlights. I never really cared for the square lights because I thought they looked kind of like the Dodge pick ups but different is good.

'80 has always been my favorite because of the square headlights and older front end. it does resemble a dodge, but so far no one has commented" hey that's a cool Dodge"......but is there any such thing as a cool dodge??
