Incorrect fuel gage reading??

I have a '77 K10 4 X 4 Silverrado that has a problem with it's fuel reading. Both tanks are reading slightly above "E" after filling and will fall as fuel is used.. Anyboby have any suggestions? I've already replaced the gage itself. Same problem wiht both gages... Thanks..

Check the wiring and the sending units.
Unplug the sender and ground it at one of the tanks.

Is this a tempory ground from the sending unit to frame? Or do you think my sending unit is not grounding which needs to be doing all the time? Thanks for the help.. Marv

Just pull the wire off at the sending unit and with the key on put it to ground. Grounded it should read empty and unplugged it should go past full. That will at least give you an indication if you are getting a signal back to the gauge through the wire and the switch.
