Front Fenders
« on: October 14, 2006, 01:55:00 pm »
I just purchased a 86 Silverado Shortbox for $800 and i'm needing both front fenders. Do the aftermarket fenders fit well or do you have to realign the holes or would it be better to buy from a junkyard. I'm going to drop a 400 smallblock in it in 2 weeks. It has a 350 in it now but I'm not happy with it.

in my experience it has always been better to get junkyard fenders if they are rust free. I can't really vouch for the aftermarket fenders except I bought one about 10 years ago for a 77 silverado shortbed I had at the time and I never did get it to line up right no matter what I did. I can't remember for the life of me what brand it was though.

That's what I was thinking I had heard that the aftermarket fenders were hard to lineup.

Nothing is easy to line up unless it was already that way on the truck.  There are different quality aftermarket pieces out there and Triplus is the best fit.

Is that what you carry is triplus? How do they compare to original fenders quality wise? I'm curious since the bottom front of both my front fenders are mostly fiberglass filler now hah. I've seen a some decent looking fenders at the junk yard...what would be better getting some triplus ones or some from the junkyard?

If you find some good ones in the salvage yard and they are in good condition there is nothing wrong with getting them.

Yes, the fenders I sell are Goodmark/Tripulss.
