86 Suburban 454, High beams not working, Help please!

Ok a lil background, I have a 86 Suburban 454.

The High beam switch is on the columm and when I pull it towards me, the Low beam lights die, along with any other light.

The lever doesnt lock like the high beams would be on, it just springs back.

I am stuck, I looked in my Haynes and found nothing, can anyone help me please?

Do you have a tilt steering column? Is the tilt column loose like you can move the steering wheel up and down and side to side. I have had loose columns not let me operate the high beam switch. If the column is loose there is a fix it article in the tech section. Could be you just need a new switch that mounts on the column down under the dash.

Nah the collum is tight, Any tuts on how to replace this switch? and how much $ ?
