chrome piece on hood

i dont know exactly wut it is or how to describe it but on a hood i got off of a 78 there is i chrome molding piece on the hood- the side that is closest to the cab. it seems to be plastic and just slips on the hood. does anybody make/sell these cuz i want to put one back on it and this one is kinda crappy lookin.

I imagine it would be called the hood cowl molding. Did you try  ?

I don't think   or Chevy Duty have that particular piece. I have it on an old hood but it looks a little beat up and I wanted to replace it but so far no go.

IS THIS PART ORIGINAL ON THIS YEAR MODEL?   IF NOT IN   THEN YOU PROBABLY WON'T FIND IT.  THIS IS MAYBE A CHROME DOOR JAM TRIM?

i was thinking something a long the lines of that door jamb trim too. it's not exactly what you're looking for, but it's pretty much the same. i think you can buy it in rolls at vatozone

id say that the piece is orginal- the 78 i got it off was had to be a fancy truck back in the day- it had 3 different color stripes on the hood, AC and a lot of other factory opitions.

there is the hood im talkin bout and u can see the chrome piece- when i took it off i can definately c the difference in the paint so its been on there for a while

That piece is original.  I wish you luck finding it though.  If you do, let me know where, cause I have been asked about it before.

Chris is right.  The moulding is stock and I am surprised as well it cannot be found anywhere.

well i cant find it ne where at all- but i was lookin throught jc whitney and they got some of that universal chrome slip on trim stuff for doors, trunks, etc. and u can buy it in like a 10 foot roll or so and i think i might just git some of it and put it on there once i repaint my truck-but i gotta do a lotta work on it this summer before i do that- thats another story....
