please bare with me as I'm a little slow with some things and my be redundant in my questions.

Here's a little a bout me I've been in the automotive industry in one for or another since 1977, Mechanic. Partsman dealership, dodge & toyota.also retail, Auto-zone, Pep boys and Napa. I'm also an I-CAR certified Frame-man.

Hi, my name is Mike. I live in Wichita, KS. I'm married 17 yrs. (I like it that way) 3 kiddos 16,14,13.
Which is how I ended up here.
We bought a 1973 Chevy C10 swb to be a project/ driver for the 16 yr. old. I found out by the VIN that this was originally a 454 truck with factory tach & gage pkg. Right now it has a SBC in it. I'll get the code to find out what motor it is.  I'm not sure if I want to go all original. Does a 16 yr. old really need a 454?
So, I work in the aircraft industry. Those of you that know Wichita find that as no big surprise. I help build the Boeing 737 fuselage that once finished, is shipped by rail car to Washington State. It's quite a sight to see.
I'm hoping to find out as much as I can about our little project '73. If you all have any info that might help me trace down everything about this truck it will be greatly appreciated.
                                    Mike

I'm 30 yrs old have a 7 yr old girl, married and make my living as a maintenance manager for 180 rental units on 38 properties. I handle all work orders and manage all sub contractors. my pride and joy is my '80 c10 swb 2wd about 2 weeks left to a complete restoration. my other truck is a 97 4x4 f-150, swb wasn't on purpose;the deal was too good to turn down and it is just a work truck. my other car is an '01 mazda protege, never get less than 34 mpg and it is a 5-speed, not the coolest thing on the road but it is one of the cheapest.

My name is John.  I am an experienced 60 years young and have always lived with the reality that the difference between men and boys is the size of their toys.  My toys and interests very, I am employed by my Tribe, the Rosebud Sioux Tribe (South Central South Dakota).  I work with the administration of a rural water project, Mni Wiconi Project, our portion that is funded at around $100,000,000.00.  Building a water system has been a real trip.

I am currently building a 1985 Chevy C70 Pickup TRUCK.  I started with a decommissioned fire rescue truck, with 18,859 original miles.  The fire department sold it on Ebay because the engine failed and the transmission was having problems, appears it was run hard and put away wet.  My plan was to put a 73-87 pickup box over the rear axle, add some aftermarket dually fenders, then fill the gap between the back of the cab to the front of the box, approximately 68 inches with the front of two other boxes to make it look like a pickup TRUCK.  I emphasize TRUCK because the box will have to be lifted about 7 inches to match up body lines.  The bed will be head high, I'm 5' 8", off the ground.  The bed will be about 14 feet long...thus pickup TRUCK!  A different engine is in the process of complete overhaul.  I am replacing the 85 427 smog pump engine with a pre-smog tall deck 427 and replaced the transmission with another 4spd Allison with a PTO hydraulic pump.  It came with steel headers and the new engine will sport a Edelbrock 750 CFM carb and intake and old school ignition, something I understand.   As I figure out how to add pictures I will post the progress of my latest toy and some of my other play things.
