c or k?
« on: June 03, 2007, 11:17:04 am »
Okay guys I gotta ask a dumb one. I'm relatively new to chevy trucks. Just got a 1986 Chevy scootsdale. The tag in the glovebox says it has a 5.0lt. engine. Is there something on the engine where I could double check this? Also how do I know if it is a c or a k? What do these letters stand for? Please no laughing Ha Ha , I'm a newbe, but love my truck so far. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Kinda hard to order parts when I don't even know what I got!!! Thanx

There is a code one the engine that you can look up to determine what it is.  Typcally it is stamped on the engine pad at the front of the motor.  All 1/2 ton 2WD (C series)pickups from 1981 to 1986 only came with 305's.  California was different.

C = 2 Wheel Drive
K = 4 wheel Drive
This doesn't apply to Blazer/Jimmys as all were labeled K5's.

Yes its K 10.
20 is for 3/4 ton, 30 for 1 ton.
