i want more power ! ! !

ok i have a ZZ350 w/ a comp extreme energy cam, edelbrock perfomer intake, holly 650 carb, built 700r4, a 2500rpm stall and 3:73's w' posi... and a 29.8"  overall rear tire diameter.... honestly i feel like it should have more than it does... i am running 285/35-22 nitto 555's and on dry concrete it will BARELY brake traction. i have a friend w/ an 84 w/ a 6.0 and 4l60e out a a 02 3/4 ton and he can pull on me pretty hard...

my question is am i just tuned bad or is it just not a strong setup?

That's pretty strange.  What size of cam is it? I would think your motor is for sure in the 350-375 HP range and will all the rest it should be a fast machine. It should bake the tires and run easy low 14s or high 13s. Locating somebody who knows how to tune a carb'd motor might be the thing to do. Timing curve and carb jets can do wonders.

i dont have the exact specs on the cam but the guy that installed it said its about as big of a cam as you can use w/ vortec heads

Posi is made so you don't brake traction. Put a harder tire on it or lube it up with some soap.

haha i'm not tryin to spin em lol :P i was just statin that if i put it on the floor from a stop it will barely chirp... and i feel like with that setup it should be able to lay rubber down pretty hard... especially bein a truck! i just used the lack of tire spin as a referance to the lack of power

i better lol! i just had em put in w/ pro-locker posi... but i'm gettin a bad feelin about the mechanic that did it all caus also paid him to put in a new a/c compressor and GAVE him the new one to put in... and when i went to have it connected the shop i took it too said it looks like the old one just spray painted and locked up! so i'm gonna check the serial number w/ the reciept from the place a bought it from and make sure they match... so i should probably check to make sure he put in the new gears.... and if everything isnt right i'll just sue the shop that i had the work done at

I was thinking after I posted, that I hope you didn't get ripped off by that guy. Especially considering your troubles already with everything else. I know that when it comes time to have my cam and heads installed, I'm going to be VERY nervous. Not only for reasons like a possible rip-off, but also just because of sheer incompetency! Ya never know who to trust these days, and I'm not equipped well enough to do it myself.

The largest Xtreme Energy cam the stock spring Vortecs can allow if a 262H cam. You should be able to determine your rear gear ratio from your RPM in 3rd gear (1:1 gear ratio) and the tire diameter at a set speed, but you may not know if your speedo is reading correct either.

yeahhhh thats one more thing they didn't bother with... my speedo cable is zip tied to my frame caus he didn't care to do get the adapter and calibrate the conversion so he just zip tied it to the frams >:( oh yeah and look in the drivetrain section about the problem i came across this morning
