Check the timing at 2800 rpm's with everything hooked up.  Total takes into consideration the centrifical advance and the vacuum advance which usually is unhooked and timing is taken at idle.  Make sure your vacuum advance is hooked where it is supposed to be.  I run my total around 30-32.  No ping or hard start when hot.

yeah, i think i am a little too green for that, so, I am gonna replace the cable and see what's what after that. Thanks any way though.
