clear plastic over dash cluster needs work

that clear plastic panel over my dash cluster is a little rough/scratched.  Can a new one be purchased anywhere? 
Or does anyone have any tips on how to refurbish these and make them crystal clear again?

Take it out use a very fine rubbing compund with a soft cloth. then step up to a polish, then use furniture polish on it.

furniture polish- hmm. I tried the rubbing compound on mine but didn't know about the polish. ( Too cheap to go Vilie's way, but I've seen them on eBay all the time.)

I used Turtlewax on mine. made a huge difference...even though i hate turtlewax.

The air force uses pledge to clean the canopies ( made from lexan ) on jets. They used to anyway. I have a friend that was an air force mechanic back in the early 70s. We use it to clean lexan race car windshields. I use it on plexiglass around the house etc.

But I think they have a 2 or 3 step process on that,, and it involves sand paper. When I was a tool dealer I had an airport on my route and I watched as they took sand paper ( super fine grit) and then finish with some sort of polish.

I wet sanded my buddies computer monitor. His daughter's friend took a tack and scratched a square right in the middle of it. Wet sanded the scratch out of it, buffed it with 3M compound, 3M Micro Finishing compound, then A polishing liquid, then glaze, then furniture polish. The plastic over your spedo etc. wont need allot. Just use 3M Mirco finishing compound or = other brand. then wash it with car soap, then polish it up good with furniture polish.

Meguiars makes a awsome product called PlastX. I used them on my taillight lenses and they look brand new now.
