Lift Kits and Brake Lines?
«

I'm going to be putting a 6" suspension lift on my 85 K10 and I read in another tread about the brake lines needing to be lengthened. How is that done, and what do I need, cause the truck definitely needs to have working brakes on it. Any help/suggestions/tips?

You don't actually "lengthen" the brakes, you purchase newer lines that are longer.

Just use drop brackets and lower the brake lines near where your flexible hoses are.

will the drop bracket cause anything to rub? I don't want them to be in the way of anything....

Pro Comp makes a very affordable stainless steel braided kit of extended brake lines (about $100). I had to do this for my 4" lift, and is a definite need on a 6". A VERY simple job, but time/knuckle consuming! Also allows you a really good brake system flush (probably desperately needed).
There shouldnt be any rubbing, and its a really easy job. Do make sure that you get EVERYTHING soaked in PB Blaster the day prior to get it so that it will all break loose! Wear latex gloves, and have at it!

Cool. I'll have to make sure to invest in that before I start to put the lift on it. Thanks for the info.
