Security!!!
« on: November 13, 2007, 08:12:12 pm »
O.K, I am not sure how many hoods open with out going from the inside of the truck and how many you can open from outside the truck.  But, what is the best way from keeping little scoundrels from opening up my hood and stealing my battery....or anything else?  Thanks

what year truck do you have?  I am assuming if it is a year before the hood locks, you can retrofit a later model fastener/cable/lever.

Some models had the inside release. You can easily run the cable and latch for the 73-80 years..

I ran my 79 as a daily driver for 10 years with no problems. Don't you have faith in your fellow man?  ::)  :P

Thanks for the suggestions, I might just do that.  People at my school can't keep their tiny little sticky hands off of peoples nice stuff....but my truck won't be finished by then.

Weld on a pad lock hasp! ::) I did that for a buddies hunting Blazer. Welded two on the rear gate, two on the hood, and one on each door. They still could have broken the glass but that takes a little more sack, which most dirt bags don't have!

you can bolt a chain to the underside of the hood, and to the bottom of the core support and lock it...or the less ghetto way, you can install the factory hood release like was mentioned above...it started being installed in 1981 on the new trucks...and was an option on some older trucks...

I am not sure what I want to do.  I might just leave it alone.  It is kind of cool I don't have to unlock my truck to work on it.
