82 chevy stepside lowering project
« on: November 21, 2007, 11:01:08 am »
im thinking about lowering my truck 3/5 inches. is that pretty good? i was thinking about using a flip kit and 3in drop spindles. is that the best way to go about this? and another problem this is a stepside and the rear wheel is really wide and the fender lip looks like it will rub. i thought about cutting the lip out from the inside and it would give it a lil bit of room. i need help and any tips this is my first time so THANKS!!!!

How much is what you personal preference is.  Do you want it level, slight rake or a noticable rake?
what you listed is fine.  DJM is the only place that makes a 3" spindle. (nothing wrong with them, just pointing it out.)

Cutting looks like crap IMO to make tires fit. Whether it's to fit bigger tires or whatever it just doesn't look good. Why not go with front spindles and rear shackles and see how you like it.

I have a step side with a 3/5 drop, and I fit 325/50-15 in the back without rubbing, or trimming.

im running lower control arms up front with cut springs...

i like the control arms over spindles because the arms keep your wheels sucked in and the spindles push them out

what ever you do, don't cut the fender. The metal is alot stronger with that bend, removing the bend will only leave the fender flimsey. the fender will raddle and vibrate when you are driving. you can always go wit on offset rim and still have a wide tire.
