the doubler kit is bad but unless you like to hard core wheel your truck its not so practical. you could get a NP205 for less then that and have REAL part time 4wd.
Well if he goes out and buys a 205, why throw out the 203? Just add the 205 to the front half of the 203 case and then he has a doubler. I guess he would have to build or buy a cross member(skid plate) but thats really about it. There are web pages out there that give you step by step instructions on how to do it yourself.
Example if he bought the 205 and just went with that alone its about the same amount of work to instal isnt it? Example he would have to modify his driveshafts, etc.
I dont know but im thinking with the doubler he would have something special. Wouldnt cost all that much extra to do.
I have never regreated replaceing stuff better than original on a truck but I have regreted cheaping out and replaceing stuff with stock stuff when for a few bucks more I could have had something really nice.
JMO though, really there is no wrong way to do it.
