so i dropped my block off today with everything (pistons rings etc) and he gave me a quote last week of about $240 to bore and hone .030 over, well today he wanted a $300 deposit
, i was like "you told me 240 last week", and i was like well 300 deposit means its genna be more than 300! i have him everything that he needed (cam bearings and feeze plugs)
what have you guys payed to get an engine bored? and what did you have done exactly (freeze plugs, cam bearings, decking etc...)

I just had my block hot tanked, bored & honed. I installed the cam bearings and core plugs myself. I also had the pistons hung on the rods all for $300 bucks

The last one I had done cost:
hot tank and magnaflux: $35.00
Hang pistons: 32.00
bore and hone to fit each individual piston: $80.00
Install cam bearings(I brought the new ones in): $25.00
Install freeze plugs(I brought these too): $20.00
Grand total at shop with original owner and 40 years experience: $192.00 plus tax
Just took my 300ci ford inline block to him xmas eve and picked it up this morning.
Hot tank/mag: $35.00
Install Cam bearings: $25.00
buy and install freeze plugs: $23.25
Total: 83.48 with tax
He also told me $132.00 to rebuild the head, I be sending that to him next week.
